Join New Mexico Kayak Instruction as we paddle down the Rio Grande during this world‐renowned event. Imagine yourself among hundreds of balloons; some near, some far, some overhead, some just a few feet away doing a Splash 'n Dash. We will meet at a designated location, based on best wind and water conditions, then board NMKI's passenger vans and shuttle to the launch site. Participants should wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and muddy, including layers of non‐cotton clothing and a windbreaker. Please note that a 10mph wind will prevent balloons from flying, but have no effect on paddlecraft. Historically, we witness balloons directly overhead and in all directions about 90% of the time, a ''Splash n' Dash'' about 50% of the time and about 10% of the time, balloon fly away from the river or don't fly at all. The tour will continue regardless of whether the balloons fly. NOTE: Participants must register by September 30, 2019 and will receive an email ~24 hours before the event with directions.
