Learners will study those communication best practices best suited to remote communication in particular. We'll focus on identifying strategies that not only work for both speaker and listener, or writer and reader, but that can succeed even in the absence of tone and body language. We'll also cover norms for communicating via online, visual platforms like Zoom.

Learners will review the basic principles of change management and of emotional intelligence, as well as the overlap between these two concepts, as applied to a time of uncertainty. We'll learn about the typical needs and fears of any employee and/or leader and apply practical strategies for moving through change while not knowing the destination. Learners will identify and discuss strategies for helping employees focus during a time of uncertainty.

Speaking effectively in business, educational, organizational or social settings involves communicating with clarity, purpose and confidence. This interactive course will help you become confident and engage your audience and, if you're like many people and dread public speaking, you'll learn techniques to help reduce anxiety or fear. We'll review communication elements, examine speech formats including short talks, ''elevator'' and impromptu speeches, long and short form presentations and discover how to handle various audiences, locations, audio/visual aids and props, limitations and surprises. The class includes exercises, writing/formatting, practice presentations and opportunities for you to learn what methods work for you. Techniques to build confidence in planning, preparing and preparing speeches will be studied and you will learn the process of how to take a speech concept from start to finish. The class is designed to be experiential and supportive. Materials and resources will be provided in class.

With change and uncertainty also come new opportunities, and many leaders will find themselves looking to reorg their teams and individual employee assignments to protect as many jobs as possible. Learners will discuss ways to identify employees with flexible skills, and build agility into teams. We'll also discuss the five levels of delegation, strategize ways to begin delegating in a remote setting.

This course will feature shared best practices about communication, supervision, one‐on‐ones, and check‐ins in a remote setting. We'll also discuss how to strike the right balance between offering flexibility for parents and other employees facing complex circumstances, while also clarifying expectations.

Conflict happens every day, and conflict, when handled correctly, can actually increase your creativity and your productivity. Understand the warning signs that conflict is coming and how to prevent it or decrease the impact. Learn to value the differences between team members and how to move to productive and positive outcomes.
