Log cabin quilt designs are always a favorite with beginning quilters and expert quilters alike. The simple piecework has a timeless charm that lends itself to endless log cabin quilt variations. This quilt is no exception. It is a fast 'n' fun project using a majority of high contrast precut 2‐1/2 " strips. This quilt can go from a 36 " square wall hanging to an 82 " square queen size quilt depending on the number of blocks you choose to make–and how much time you have. We'll look at fabric selection and spend a little time on various log cabin layouts, plus we'll learn a little bit about the beginnings of the Log Cabin Quilt. The pattern was written by me and has a detailed shopping list, fabric requirements and it includes all the supplies you will need to finish the quilt. This is an intermediate project which means you should have a working knowledge of basic quilt making. You must have a sewing machine in good working order and know how to use it. You do not need your sewing machine at the first class. Sample, supply sheet and the pattern are available at The Quilt Works. You may contact me at: CarolBell99@msn.com if you have any questions. Put Quilting 102 in the subject line.

Sashiko is a form of embroidery from Japan that was used by the working class as far back as the 16th century. Today it has evolved into a beautiful and decorative art form. The white thread on an indigo blue background gives it a distinctive look. It is made using large thread and big stitches that are very easy to work and see. Students will make a square of stitchery that can be made into a pillow or appliqued onto something else such as a tote bag. NOTE: A materials fee of $25 will be payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.

I will take your fear of creating this wallet away. It is far easier than it looks I will break it down into a few easy pieces and then we will take those pieces and create a great wallet, wristlet or cross body. There are 12 card slots, two pockets one front, one back, behind those card slots, your choice of one or two zipper pockets. The center space will hold most cell phones. I will demonstrate a few options for your front flap, your closure, as well as a few things I have learned from many other NCW makers around the world. We will discuss fabrics, interfacing, and several other ways to make this wallet yours. NOTE: Bring your Sewing Machine; none are available in class.
