This is the first class I have taught using Eleanor Burns book. The featured block is a 28'' Feathered Star. The Feathered Star is typically a difficult block. This one isn't. Eleanor's directions are spot on using triangle pieced squares, strip pieced diamonds and no set in seams. The 5 stars used in this quilt are traditional‐ with a twist. You will learn new and exciting ways to make the stars. She also shows how to machine quilt the quilt using a conventional sewing machine. This is for the Confident Beginner or Intermediate quilter who wants a challenge. Skills needed for this class: Use a rotary cutter and ruler with accuracy, sew an accurate 1/4'' seam, press not iron, and, read and understand quilting vocabulary. Eleanor provides three different sized quilts‐from a wall hanging to a twin bed size. You can decide the size you want to make. Sample and Supply Sheets are available at the Quilt Works. You can e‐mail me with any questions at CarolBell99@msn.com [put ''Quilting 102'' in the subject line.]

Chinese Knot Making is a decorative handicraft art that began as a form of Chinese folk art in the Tang and Song Dynasty in China. The art is also referred to as ''Chinese traditional decorative knots'' In other cultures, it is known as ''decorative knots''. Chinese knots are usually lanyard type arrangements where two cords enter from the top of the knot and two cords leave from the bottom. The knots are usually double‐layered and symmetrical. The phenomenon of knot tying continued to steadily evolve over the course of thousands of years with the development of more sophisticated techniques and increasingly intricate woven patterns. Join us and learn the craft of making Chinese Lucky knots. A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.
