Health and Fitness classes at UNM Continuing Education help you open the door to better health. Our well-trained instructors have experience working with people of all ages and physical ability. We offer classes in a variety of exercise and fitness topics including, yoga, Pilates, dance, swimming, weight lifting, and more. Whether you are looking to drop pounds, or work on strength training, we offer classes that will fit your needs. Like all of our classes, the schedules are convenient and the classes are affordable; and you can try something new without a long-term contract.

Dance Fitness - Upcoming Classes

Come and enjoy aerobics - Latin style! In salsaerobics, you'll lose weight and get in shape as you exercise to the Latin beat. Learn basic Latin dance steps including: salsa, cumbia, cha cha, mambo, merengue, and more. This class starts at a beginning level and gradually increases to higher fitness levels. Note: Wear comfortable clothing and good aerobic shoes.

Class Name

This class will assess how functional your body is moving and show you exercise strategies to fix your problem areas. You will learn how strength training with correct joint function can be great for you physically. Training in this class will use basic body weight, resistance bands and some free weights.

Journey deep within with restorative yoga poses to ease the body, breathwork to calm the mind, and deep relaxation to melt away stress. This is the plan for this afternoon of deep rest. You will learn a simple sequence of yoga postures and breathing techniques that you can practice nightly, easing you into a restful night of sweet dreams. Yoga nidra guided meditation will complete the journey. Restful sleep is our birthright. You can easily make it possible for every organ of your body to enjoy deep rest, leading to vitality and resilience during your waking hours.

This is the perfect antidote for weak, weary backs. This yoga class focuses on three movement categories to improve back health. Strengthening and extending the back muscles will enhance alignment and stability. Gentle twists and supported forward bends will lengthen shortened muscles. And mobilizing the shoulder girdle and softening around the heart will help you breath more deeply and reduce tension. Note: If you have any existing medical conditions, you must provide physician approval to take this class.
