Having a life well lived is essential for everyone to thrive. It is more than surviving. According the CDC, “In simple terms, well-being can be described as judging life positively and feeling good.” This generally includes global judgments of life satisfaction and positive emotional responses, such as happiness, awe and joy. A few keys to well-being are social connection, compassion for ourselves and others, mindfulness and kindness. Eastern practices courses are time-honored traditions of wellness from non-Western cultures. Courses in this area are designed for a meaningful impact on well-being. These courses may be repeated semester to semester or to discover a new wellness strategy.

Find group support for a simple, accessible practice of mindfulness meditation. Research in neuroscience tells us that a consistent meditation practice actually rewires the brain. Harvard researchers, using MRI scans, have shown that meditation can increase our "gray matter," which may lead to better cognitive and psychological functioning. Meditation practice may help you to lower your daily stress, increase your focus, improve your sleep or reconnect with your life. And being part of a mediation group helps you to sustain and deepen your practice. Using short guided meditations and mindfulness methods based on the secular, research‐supported work of Jon Kabat‐Zinn, we offer a practice session that allows you to increase your well‐being by sharing an hour each week in working towards a lifetime habit of mindfulness. NOTE: Required Prerequisite: Mindfulness‐Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) eight‐week course or equivalent experience. Previous experience with mindfulness meditation is required.

Many people share similar struggles: "I've tried everything. Nothing works. Diets don't work. Exercise doesn't work. HELP!" One size doesn't fit all. Everyone is different. Making simple and sensible lifestyle and emotional changes, people are able to lose weight and keep it off for years. WHY WEIGHT? Let's find your solution, sooner than later! Get off the obesity merry‐go‐round. Learn new tools. Cultivate health and happiness. Enjoy your life! Note: Please bring a $5 materials fee, to be given to the instructor Instructor: Pamellina Cornish, Doctor of Oriental Medicine combines all six branches of Oriental Medicine in her practice. "I have practiced natural medicine most of my life, first as a hobby in my youth, then as a licensed practitioner in Albuquerque since 1987. I have watched the population GROW. I, myself, have ballooned up and down, with weight issues over the years, for various reasons. A couple of years ago, I lost 50% of my body weight. Life is so much more comfortable now! I'm hoping that the factors contributing to my previous obesity will never flourish again."
