Mindfulness & Meditation

Having a life well lived is essential for everyone to thrive. It is more than surviving. According the CDC, “In simple terms, well-being can be described as judging life positively and feeling good.” This generally includes global judgments of life satisfaction and positive emotional responses, such as happiness, awe and joy. A few keys to well-being are social connection, compassion for ourselves and others, mindfulness and kindness. Eastern practices courses are time-honored traditions of wellness from non-Western cultures. Courses in this area are designed for a meaningful impact on well-being. These courses may be repeated semester to semester or to discover a new wellness strategy.

Reiki is a Japanese healing art. Anyone can use Reiki for self and others. It can relieve stress, insomnia, fatigue and pain and accelerate healing of body, mind and spirit. In this introductory class you learn about Usui Reiki Ryoho, its history, levels of training and practical applications. You can experience the Reiki touch, have your questions answered, and develop a basis for deciding whether or not to pursue Reiki treatment or training.

Deepen your mindfulness meditation practice with a full day of mindfulness from the Mindfulness‐Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. Expand your capacity for stress reduction, pain management and increased overall well‐being with this day‐long retreat. Retreats and longer periods of mindfulness practice help us to sustain and deepen our mindfulness practice and intention, resulting in an ability to better contend with difficulty, increased resilience and enhanced quality of life. Take time for yourself and enjoy a day of mindfulness meditation practices including sitting meditation, gentle stretching, walking meditation and mindful eating to increase your ability to be present moment to moment in every aspect of your life.
